Commenting on the announcement by Hogan Lovells regarding their growth plans for their Philadelphia office, Legal Recruiter Robert Nourian of Center City's Coleman|Nourian said:
"most firms nearing Hogan's size and profitability feel they can service Philadelphia clients from offices in New York or Washington - two locations where every major firms wants to plant their flag.
"If you are from Pittsburgh or North Jersey, contiguous markets with similar rate structures, Philadelphia might make sense," Nourian said. "But if you are looking to service clients from a national footprint, you want to be in New York, Washington, the West Coast and Chicago but not necessarily Philadelphia unless there is a strategic fit with lawyers."
In the case of Hogan Lovells, that strategic fit revolves around the life sciences industry.
